Rick Tappan earned his law degree with honors from Gonzaga University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in Geology from Northern Arizona University.  Prior to attending Gonzaga, Mr. Tappan was an environmental consultant and Professional Geologist.  His environmental practice focused on industrial, petroleum, and solid waste groundwater contamination delineation and remediation.   Mr. Tappan’s legal practice is focused on water law, natural resources, oil and gas, and private and public lands issues, appearing before both state and federal courts, as well as state and federal administrative agencies.

Mr. Tappan is an active member with and a two-time recipient of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s RMMLF Scholarship. In his spare time he enjoys exploring Montana’s great outdoors and spending time with his family.
